Join me for a series of four afternoons in the creative beehive! For those of you who attended previous workshops, this will be an opportunity to build upon the skills obtained from the first lesson and dive deeper into a series of projects. For everyone else, this will be your opportunity to create four small encaustic pieces for yourself (or maybe someone else). We will cover encaustic collage, watercolor painting, excavation, and photo-encaustic art. This workshop is appropriate for the novice and beyond.

…..So what Is Encaustic?
Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Heat is used throughout the process, from melting the beeswax and varnish to fusing the layers of wax. Encaustic consists of natural beeswax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). The medium can be used alone for its transparency or adhesive qualities or used pigmented. The medium is melted and applied with a brush or any tool the artist wishes to create from. Each layer is then reheated to fuse it to the previous layer.
